KiCad, which started as a private project by Jean-Pierre Charras, an Academic at IUT de Grenoble in 1992 (just a couple of years after the Web was born!!!), is now the PCB design tool of choice for thousands of professional engineers and hobbyists.
Wayne, a self taught programmer, is the current leader for the KiCad project. He was one of the first contributors to the project when he joined in 2006. If fact, it was a team of three: Jean-Pierre Charras (the original creator), Dick Hollenbeck (the first project leader), and Wayne.
