LIST OF HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Arduino Bootcamp for Teachers and Trainers

This page contains lists of required parts and tools for the course "Arduino Bootcamp for Teachers and Trainers".

The following lists contain the parts and tools necessary to complete the Arduino Bootcamp for Teachers and Trainers program.

Many of the items below are reusable. Items like soldering irons, precision screwdrivers, Arduinos etc will last for many years if you look after them. Other items like resistors, spacers and potentiometers come in packs that contain sufficient numbers to last for many projects.

The items in these lists are provided in an effort to make it easier for our students to find the parts and tools they need. While we take care to find reliable Amazon sellers, we cannot be responsible for problems in their supply chain or fulfilment. Sellers may run out of stock at any time, or shipments may be lost in transit. For issues like these, or for warranty claims, please contact the seller or Amazon directly.

If you do not live in the US, UK or Germany, or the Amazon stores that we provide links to below do not deliver to your location, consider using a freight forwarding service like Shipito. You can ship your shopping to them, and they will forward to you, anywhere in the world. This is useful in case, for at least some of the items in your shopping list, Amazon will not ship to addresses outside the US.

To complete this course, you will need the following parts:

  1. Arduino Uno, Genuine | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  2. Arduino Uno, a cheaper lone (only need one Arduino Uno) | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  3. RGB LED | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  4. Single color 5mm LEDs | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  5. Assorted resistors (but we'll mostly be using 220Ω, 1κΩ and 10κΩ resistors) | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  6. Photoresistors | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  7. A 10κΩ potentiometer | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |

You will also need these tools:

  1. Mini breadboard | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  2. Male-male Jumper wires | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  3. Multimeter | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  4. Wire cutter | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  5. Tweezers | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  6. Precision screwdrivers | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |

I have designed a PCB that replaced the breadboard for the first 8 mini projects. If you are keen to do a bit of soldering, you can get the breadboard from Oshpark. To populate it, you will need the parts in the list. We are putting together a kit to make it easier to source the board and the parts.

The following components are optional, and only necessary if you want to continue your study with the extended course materials after the end of the Bootcamp:

  1. DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  2. Thermistor temperature sensor | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  3. BMP180 or MBP280 environment sensor | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  4. ADXL335 accelerometer | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  5. Passive Infrared Motion sensor | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  6. Ultrasonic distance sensor | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  7. Passive buzzer | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  8. 2x16 characters LCD screen | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
  9. 2x16 characters LCD screen with I2C backpack adaptor | Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon DE |
